One of the most prolific sire of sires of the modern day is Mr. Prospector. His son, multiple graded stakes winner BARKERVILLE, is an exceptional individual who sold for $1.2 million as a yearling and is from the female family of champion and sire Run the Gantlet, sires Caucasus and One for All, and recent stakes winner Hero's Tribute.

BARKERVILLE entered stud in Chile in 1993 and was subsequently the leading freshman sire of 1996 in that country. His immediate success and multitude of stakes horses led to his repatriation to the U.S. after five South American seasons. BARKERVILLE stood his first North American season in 1998, with his first U.S. foals born in 1999. They include Crowned King, a stakes winner at two in 2002 who is inbred to Northern Dancer 4x4 and is out of a Dynaformer (by Roberto) mare. Other stakes horses from the initial U.S. matings include two stakes horses out of Alleged mares, which is the Ribot line. Interestingly, one of BARKERVILLE's Chilean graded stakes winners also is out of an Alleged-line mare.

Two of BARKERVILLE's South American foals who also became graded stakes winners in the U.S. are Big Ten and Babae. The former is out of a Buckpasser-line mare, as is another of BARKERVILLE's Chilean stakes winners, and is inbred 4x5 to Princequillo. The latter, who won six stakes, is out of a Ballymoss-line mare.

Ballistic, the 2002 Horse of the Year and a G1 winner in Chile by BARKERVILLE, is out of an In Reality mare and his second dam is a Nijinsky II mare. As BARKERVILLE himself is out of a Nijinsky II mare, this high-class winner is inbred 3x3 to Nijinsky II, as is El Gotan, another BARKERVILLE graded Chilean winner who also is inbred 3x4 to Raise a Native. Two other graded winners by BARKERVILLE are inbred 4x3 to Northern Dancer.

Other top stakes winners in Chile by BARKERVILLE include runners out of mares by Smarten (Turn-to line), Icecapade, and Ogygian. The Nashua, Tourbillion, and Damascus lines are all represented in various BARKERVILLE stakes horses, as is the Bold Ruler line. One of BARKERVILLE's stakes winners is out of a Bold Ruler-line mare and another counts Slew o' Gold as his second damsire, incorporating the Seattle Slew branch of Bold Ruler.
